Help build the future of work for tech teams
At GitBook, we're building a new document standard suited for modern work and collaboration. We're a fully remote and product oriented that's empowering technical teams by seamlessly integrating knowledge management into their existing asynchronous workflows.
Want to have an impact on how tech teams work in the future? This is the place to be.
Fast growing, fully-remote, product led
At Gitbook you will enjoy a truly remote environment with flexibility, autonomy and accountability.
We're growing fast, and you will have a big impact on shaping our product and company, while enjoying the longer term benefits of growing exponentially.
-
Where we started
The first iteration of GitBook was a bootstrapped, developer-focused product built by co-founders Samy and Aaron, allowing folks to publish documentation (or 'books'!) straight from their git repos
-
Where we're at
Now, we are a fully distributed team building the future of knowledge management, starting with technical teams. Our product has become more accessible, our team has grown, and we're powering knowledge sharing at some pretty awesome places.
-
Where we're heading
We want GitBook to be a product that continues to power knowledge, and break down silos, across technical teams. We're pushing ourselves to improve; we treat our company like a product; we take risks together; and fundamentally care about the future of knowledge management.

Our values
✊Ambition (Aim higher)
We plan and build for the long term. While we iterate with small changes, strive for large, ambitious results. Avoid the comfort zone, where we stand is not the end, but only a step.At a fast growing startup, there is a sense of urgency, time gained or lost has compounding effects; ambition should not be delayed and should not be feared.
✊Ownership (Take control and own it)
Everyone can drive, everyone can take the reins, and everyone should be accountable to both themselves and the rest of the team. There is no such thing as “it’s not my job”. When you observe a problem, don’t wait for someone to fix it, take the responsibility of fixing it.
📈 Accountability (Be accountable to results)
We are driven by results and not by efforts (Measure results, not hours). We hold each other accountable to facts, and not to our personal perceptions.Focus on outcomes, not efforts. Work smart, then hard. Solve deep root-problems not symptoms. Avoid sunk-cost fallacies, be honest with yourself and others when something isn’t working out. Be data-informed.
🙋♀️ Care (Give a sh*t)
Empathise with customers. Take the time to understand their frustrations, needs, and root-problems.Caring for the customers means caring about what the customer achieve. We are here to help our customers achieve more now and in the long run.Caring should also proxy through the team, empathise with your team, help them achieve and learn; to better serve our mission.
🏃♂️ Train (Grow yourself)
Our impact as a team is the result of combining individual skills, therefore individual skills are a main driver of our company impact.Personal growth comes from practice, training and learning. Building an ambitious company is the perfect opportunity to learn from solving challenging problems, use it!As you face a challenge that you don’t know how to solve, learn from it to create leverage for the team.
🤝 Genuine (Say it and accept it)
Be upfront and candid. Say it like it is. Hold yourself and others accountable. Feedback is always about your work and not your person. It won’t always be easy to give or receive, but it’s necessary. Be respectful, be transparent and genuine in your communication.
👯♂️ Team player (Leverage the team)
None can reach high ambition just by them self, leverage the team and different skills to create an outcome that’s bigger than the sum of its parts. We work as a sport team, be self-aware and know when to pass the ball and when to move it forward. You are not alone on the field!
That said, collaboration does not mean involving everyone all the time and moving slow as a result. Collaboration must still be efficient. Be synthetic and methodical to minimise noise.
🏗 Architect (Plan & Build)
As an early-stage company, lots remains to be built and everyone should contribute to architecting and building long-term solutions beyond simple day-to-day execution.Building isn’t simply doing, building also requires planning. Great planning often starts with clearly defined problems and outcomes.Start new projects breadth-first. Solve the broad easy problems first. Then dive into the details.
